Cinnamon Diamonds is a short story based on the amazing events of a stormy night in 1847. The Felix Lighter a three-masted schooner survived a hurricane off the east coast of the United States. Reaching port wasn’t its most significant achievement. A young man named Hanson Gregory became a savior when he was inspired to create the first ever doughnut with a hole. His creation during the hurricane has become a thing of legend. This story couples his one and only interview with The Washington Post as well as repeated and no doubt distorted versions of the truth from his fellow sailors with whom he recited the tale to in his retirement in a Massachusetts sailors’ home.
This revised and extended edition celebrates the 100th anniversary of the The Washington Post article on which the story is based. The original newspaper article is included at the end of the story.

Don't you love those wonderful little historical tales lost to time, reinstated by dedicated people whose interests and efforts to research them, bring them back to life for us all to enjoy. It is a very quick read and completely perfect as such, for that hours commute on the train so many of us have daily. Nicely written and full of atmosphere. Who would've realised the humble but famous donut is actually so old, not me that's for sure. I have enjoyed reading about an old 'Sea dog' and the legacy we all still enjoy today.Thank you to Story Cartel for their free PDF copy for review.

A beautiful telling of a forgotten tale. And a tale worth re-telling to friends and family next time you sit in a doughnut shop. Must read.
This is a great tale about something unexpected. I don’t want to ruin the story for you so I won’t say much about the story itself, as it’s a short story. You’ll think it’s going one place and it ends up a totally different place. Delightfully written with no salty language, just sweet sprinkles and a taste for more. It’s a very fast read!

I really enjoyed this quick interesting read and never dreamt the donut had such a significant history!
Being a sailor myself, I was quite pleased by this quick and informational read. Personally -- as an Indie writer myself -- I read for the story, to absorb the message, not to hunt down errors. I feel the one "two-star" review I read isn't warranted. I guess I could go back and look for those imperfections, but why bother. For me, the story was delivered just fine, and I'm a little bit smarter for having taken the time to read it. Nice.
